dearborn, mi
dumb question maybe... My motor has been sitting in my garage for a couple of months, and i wanted to see if i can turn the crank pulley. well i did. Is this bad? does the pully have to be put back in a certain position? how do i get it back there?

prolly a dumb question, but i'm not used to the 4.6

I would say as long as the timing is still assembled it wont matter how much you turn the balancer because everything will turn in sync. Is the engine still all put together? Why is it out of the car now?

Bo

4.6 conversion. i'm good at stuff like this... but this is my first project. i bought a 99 electric green v6 for 5200.. stripped it down, even the interior... and now redoing everything. black interior ... not found on the electric green is installed, cobra master cylinder with cobra abs booster, irs from 02 cobra, t45 from 99 cobra, cobra fuel tank, ... pretty much everything but the 4v motor. i bought a saleen supercharger and slaped that on top cause i didn't want to buy a 2v intake. completely new body wiring harness, ecm harness, engine wiring harness, .... plus a lot of other stuff. road and track kit from maximum motorsports, need to get new brakes though for the front.

I think its a good thing if you turn it enough. The oil pump will move some oil around the engine and re-lubricate stuff. I've got a buddy who has several engines in his shop that he's not using right now. He says he turns the engines a couple of revolutions on them every couple of months to keep the cylinder walls oilly and prevent any part of the engine from rusting up.

When I had to do my oil pan tap for my blower oil drain line, I had to manually turn the crank to get keep from hitting the crankshaft with the punch and tap. Nothing at all is wrong with turning it by hand. Good question, though.

that's probably a good idea. i gotta get the oil support.. it mounts to the block and the oil filter attaches to it. 161 dollars from ford. anyone got one laying around?!

yea.. see i would of thought it was ok, until i saw something on the timing chain covers. two little arrows.. one said TDC and i can't remember what the other said. I was thinking.. hmmm where would the harmonic balancer have to be to have one (i'm not sure which cylinders they are refering to) to be at tdc. thanks a lot. anyone else have a lot of trouble with saleen? i need a few minor parts for the superchargers.. brackets and such and I can't get a hold of them. Probably 20 emails went out .. zero came back
