I bought a worn out 96 f150 w/5.0&4r70w so I could rob it of its computer, harness, trans, aluminum driveshaft, and fead setup to use in my 66 stang. It has a crank trigger wheel pressed onto the back of the dampener. My 331 stroker kit is a 28oz imbalance, so the 50oz stock dampener w/crank trigger can't be used. Trying to figure out if I am going to be able to use a aftermarket crank trigger to keep the ecu happy, and if they will speek the same language....
i am like 95% sure all crank trigger wheels have 36 teeth with one missing. and the aftermarket ones are zero balance, so you should be able to bolt them to your crank pulley
Hmm, may have to set both dampeners side by side and take some measurements to check feasability of installing factory wheel on prof prod dampener. This crank trigger is inductive pickup, it only has 4 fingers. FAST has a unit that is 1/8" thick, and 4 "bumps" on it that is inductive pickup for under $220. May check a little closer into using this unit. Thanks for the link and your input.
Wasn't gonna run an ignition "box", just a '96 f150 5.0 eecV ecm (box code a??3), sniper (delta force) tuning software, msd pro billet dist, and blaster tfi coil w/ford racing 9mm wires.
i'm thinking about going to a crank trigger setup on my 390 for the fairlane. there are a couple people who make stand alone ignition controllers for such a setup.
chris, do you have a stand alone ignition controller, or is it built into your EEC?
