What size the the stock crankshaft bolt in an 89? I have another thread (ignition & dizzy help) and I'm trying to manually crank the engine but my 7/8 seems too small. Any help would be great.

It is a 15/16" socket. You may have to cobble up some odd sized extensions to get enough clearance to make it work. With a 5 speed trans, just put it in 5th gear and rock the car.

If your manually turning the engine over...I would keep the car in neutral...and having the spark plugs pulled out makes it much easier to spin over...

either way works well. often I am too lazy to turn it over with a wrench and JR's method works well in that case. using a wrench allows more precise rotation though.

good luck.

if you're still running the stock accessory drives, you might be able to turn it by the alternator pulley as well...i've done it before-less risk of beating up the knuckles, and easier access
