anyone ever wonder what happens to the cars after they're broadsided and rearended and all smashed up due to crash testing?? i imagine they would make some pretty nice parts cars...

anyone have the slightest clue?

i'm guessing crushed:(

Someone give that man a prize!

Different OEM’s handle it a little different but this is the basic layout:

After the test, deconstruction, and the document are written, it gets scrapped. Design engineers sometimes request their parts removed from the vehicle for a closer personal inspection. Sometimes things will get sent to educational institutions, but not very often and those parts are made sure not to be useable.

that sucks. i'd love to pick up a "ford test gt500" for a "shell swap" (everything but the shell) into an 82GT !!!

the cars that are crashed don't have complete engines, computer, wiring harnesses, etc. And a crash test would never be done on a GT500 since it's the same chassis as the GT and the V6. The crashes are done with a winch and cable pulling the vehicle into the barrier.
