TPS's are known to go bad on the 4.6 mod engine. The sensor puts out a digital signal, the cruise control keeps that digital signal constant, if you look at a oscilloscope, you would notice a constant digital signal, almost like a flat line, These sensors weren't made to stay that way for hours on end, at one voltage. (Kind of a catch 22 situation if you car has cruise control)l. Thats why it is a digital signal instead of an analog signal. Symptoms of bad TPS's, Sticking RPMs, upon hard acceleration the Sensor will flat line like it was analog then fly up in RPMs. Same w/deceleration.

Anyone else noticed that if you set the cruise in a ford vehicle and then proceed to take it out of gear/put it in neutral (automatic or manual) the computer tries to compensate by revving the engine. Every ford I've driven has done this (Aerostar mini van, Ranger, Taurus, Mustang, etc...). I mean obviously if you press the clutch it kills the CC, but not if you pop it out of gear. Kinda funny. Every Chrysler/Dodge I've driven on the other hand killed the CC if you put it in neutral.

Just a question, how is holding the throttle at a constant position any different then using the cruise control? Since several of my previous cars had not cruise, I got really good at finding a place to rest my foot on the carpet next to the throttle which allowed me to hold the throttle with min effort and it works just as well as cruise.
