up until recently, i have been targeting 2000 rpm as my "cruising" rpms. lately, i have started targeting 1500 instead. is 1500 rpms too low for just cruising?

what rpms does everyone else cruise at?

Well, on the freeway on my morning commute, I'm anywhere between 2500 and 3000 steady in 5th gear.

Around town I like to keep it between 1500-2000 rpms. 2500 is just a tad to touchy for me. When I let off of the accelerator at 2500+ rpms, my exhaust burbles quite loudly and my engine slows me down a bit. It sure as hell sounds nice, but with all the popo around, I'd rather keep a somewhat lower profile

Well, i have an AOD w/3.73's, but i leave my shifter in D so it only uses 3 gears.

Around town, i'm usually around 2000RPM.

When i get on the highway, i cruise at 3000RPM's. If i need to go above 3000RPM, i shift to OD and cruise at 2000RPM.

I'd say 2000-3000 is my crusing range.
