Has anyone had any trouble with the side scoops pulling away from the body on there CS/GT. I was walking around my car yesterday and noticed in the upper rear corner there is a gap where the double sided tape has come loose. I am debating on taking it to the dealership or just fixing it myself. If I have them fix it, I am worried it will be some hack that will F%#k UP my car. If I fix it, I am worried that the two clips are too tight and something will break.

The Ford dealership near me, their auto body dept guarantees satisfaction. If it were me, I'd take it to Ford first and go from there.

go to ford. it will be easier on your wallet, unless you can buy single packs of adhesion promoter. if you have never cleaned and retaped anything before, its a hassle. leave it to someone that does it everyday and has the right supplies to do it right. if you do want to do it yourself, let me know and i will outline it step by step.

The tape isn't my concern, it's the retaining clips that are on the scoops. If I knew they were just basically there to line the scoop up and aren't snapped in very tight I would not hesitate to repair myself. I'm a master tech for Toyota and have replaced many rubber gaskets between fender flares. That's one of the biggest reasons I'm nervous about dropping off for Ford to fix. I've seen many Hack Mechanics come and go throughout the years. There are a few in the shop now that I wouldn't let touch any of my vehicles.

pop out the back seat cushion. takes 10 seconds. then pull the trim panel and see how the clips attach. someone may have already been down this road though and will tell you specifics. but since i dont have a GT/CS, i cant tell you 100%. most of the time, they are not alignment pins, but actual clips that are needed.

AND I HATE THOSE TOYOTA WHEEL FLARE SEALS!!!

Getting that 3M two sided tape off of the scoops will wear out your thumb. Adhesion promoter is an absolute must before the new tape goes on.

My right side scoop is a little loose. The double sided tape has lost its adhesion...When and if I ever repair it I'm just going to replace the clip along with the tape at the same time.

Yep, take it to ford, thats what the warrenty is for. If profection is an issue, keep taking it back untill they get it right. When you take your car in for warrenty work, you get a survey in the mail. The sevice dept likes to get high marks on the survey, you should be fine.

Well, I wasn't dissapointed. Dropped the car off at the local dealership today to have them repair the side scoop. I got a call at 2 to come pick it up that it was done. I have my wife drive me to the dealership and when I get there the car is out front with all kinds of fingertips and smudges surrounding and on the side scoop. So I look a little closer and the scoop is still loose in the corner and is now loose at the bottom. I go inside and tell the Body Shop MGR. and he tells me that's how they fit. I tell him the passenger side doesn't fit like that and he tells me that some fit better than others. Not only did I waste 2 hours of work for this but my car is still F#@ked up. I ended up calling the dealership that I bought it from and dropped it off there tonight. I got lucky and the Guy that is going to fix it was working late and had me put the car inside the shop. He looked at the locals fix and laughed. He promissed that it will be perfect when done. Fingers crossed. I felt much more comfortable than this morning at the other dealership. The only reason I didn't take it back there in the first place is because they are in the next county and the local dealership is about 5miles away.

Sucks man. Some dealers really blow, while others are great. Wouldn't it be nice if Ford took control of all their dealers? I bet things would get done a little better and more efficient.

Picked the car up from the other Dealership tonight and it's fixed! What a difference from the hacks that had it yesterday!
