Custom Stang Interiors

My car has a JME bezel, 2001 Mustang seats, door panels I made, billet alum door handles, billet alum door pins (locks), billet alum shifter handle and I am working on (3rd version) a custom console that will house my custom gauge pod (see pic), billet alum vents, billet alum courtesy lights (with delay off after door closes), billet alum fire extinguisher holder, spun alum cup holders, alum plate for my power window and power door lock switches. Here are some pics:

Where do you buy sheets of billet aluminum?
I may be wrong, but I thought Billet was reserved for bar stock used to make parts either in a mill or CNC machine.

Sheets of aluminum can be purchased from a local metal shop or hardware store. They can be polished to look like the front panel above.

wasnt there an australian that was putting an SN95+ interior in his?? Looked PHAT, but a lot of work...

I was just gonna paint mine, remove the chrome, upolstered door panels, new seats, more modern looking guages etc, but still have some retro throwbacks

Besides the obvious (volt and A/f)....what are all the switches, knobs, etc for? Please fill us in.

Thanks,

Josh

OK, here goes:

Top left gauge is Voltmeter, switch next to it is to select from multiple sensing points

Black button is to turn on the interior courtesy lights

The knob is to adjust the turn on point of my electric fan.

Switch below knob is a manual override for my electric fan

bottom switch is to select which bank the Air / Fuel ratio gauge (next to it) will be displaying.

LEDs (from left to right) Green to indicate elec fan on, Blue for alarm, White for back up lights, Red for parking brake

Top gauges on right is an Elec Fuel Pressure gauge

The rectangular thing is a remote display for my Valentine 1 radar detector

Round thing at bottom is a standard 12v power port (cig lighter) for things like cell phone or lap top (in preparation for fuel injection project later this year).

I believe the description given by 66p51 above is correct.

The plate is made from aluminum sheet. There is an industrial metal supply near me that sells new scrap pieces (sheet or billet). These are pieces that are left over after making cuts for their industrial customers. My friend bought some billet round stock and is turning them on a lathe to make vases of all things
:p

hey gp, how would one go about getting you to fab another set of those door pins?

I'll tell you the trick. You are gonna laugh at how easy it is. Buy some for a late model mustang. These will be 10-24 thread and will not be threaded all the way to the top (domed end). Then, you have to drill them farther in and tap the drilled portion to 8-32 thread. We had it easy because we had a lathe to chuck them into, but you could (if you are steady) use a drill. Or, take them to a machine shop local to you and have them do it. Probably aint too expensive.
