Has anyone in here cut their antenna? If so did it affect the reception AND is there a desired length.
P.S. How does the ball go back on top. Thanks!

I cut mine to 15", the reception wasn't effected in town but degraded a lot once on the road. The antenna I used was a Pep Boys replacement (black) and the ball pressed back on without any problems. I did use a hammer and tapped it a bit to help press it on tighter.

Geez! pay 15 bucks and and get a UPR Shorty Antenna! It is 14" long and for a few extra bucks you can get any number of tips for it. i.e. bullit, disigner, etc.

I'd rather take 10 minutes and saw it off with a hacksaw to however tall you wanna have it, take some vice grips and twist the ball off the end, jb weld it back on the new shorter antenna, and spray some black paint on there. thats what I did with mine. i like it

I like the stock antenna--good reception, plus, it makes the pony look like it could be an RC car.

This is a simple mod. To get the ball to fit, I had to file the new top of the antenna down a little bit to fit into the hole in the ball. Then a dab of superglue and black touch up paint and I was done. I also like this method because it retains the OEM look. It didn't change my radio reception at all (though I live in flat Florida) and it was FREE! I'm not cheap, but I just didn't feel it was necessary to spend money on this mod.

i cut mine to 18 inches total which is pretty much the same height as my roof. i a wheel grinder to taper the end. fill the ball with epoxy. held it on there for ahile wiped off excess epoxy then painted it black and applied clear coat.

Remeber to use a rag to wrenh it back on so you don't mess up the paint.

i have had ZERO loss of reception.
