daily driver or not what do yall think~~????

i asked in another post about a 3500 stall...

i dont know jack about what that is.....and no one bothered to respond

I know i sound like a moron..but ive never had a aod or a c4

so with that said........if i were to buy a 5.0 w/ a 351 and it had a c4 w/ a 3500 stall

would i be able to drive that every day on the street NOT STRIP...I dont go on long trips just around town and if i were to go on the highway i would maybe only go 50 miles or so...

probably go 15mph - 70mph....

need yalls opinion before i go and look at the car, the car is 3hrs from where i live and i dont want to go there for nothing...im blind when it comes to a 3500 stall???????????????/

thanks for any help!!!

i would find out what cam it has in it - cam and stall go hand in hand more than people give the relationship credit for.

i would offer more info but i have any.

good luck to ya.

3500 stall means that the torque converter is basically going to "stall" or slip until the engine reaches about 3500 rpm. Stall converters are typically used with larger cams. Also used to get the engine in the hp/torque rpm range before coming off the line at the strip. For instance, if you have cam with .540" lift and an auto trans. w/ a stock torque converter, most likely every time you put it in drive and press brake (such as stopping at stop sign) the car will die. As for your question on having a 3500 stall in a daily driver...I definitely would not suggest it, although, I have not had the personal experience. Just seems that it may be a little rough on the engine and a little annoying when driving on busy streets, revving the engine up to 3000-3500 just to go 20 mph to the stop light 50 ft. away. See what I am saying. As HISSIN said, cam and stall go hand-in-hand and you need to check on cam size. The cam may be so big that driveability becomes an issue. Good luck with your search and I hope I helped.

hey thanks alot for the input guys......thats what i was thinking that the car was going to die unless i get it to 3500 rpm

so if its a daily drive there REALLY NO POINT!!!

my speed limit on some streets are 15mph, so it would probably be REAL hard to go 10mph or 15mph

thanks!!!!!!!!

no prob, glad i could help, but to clear up about the car dying. that particular car w/ a 3500 wouldn't die below 3500, it just wouldn't move from stop until 3500 was reached. yes, very annoying, and possibly harmful to engine to just ride around 10-15 mph. i mention the car would die if it had a stock (no stall) converter with a large cam. hope i didn't confuse you anymore. also, i read your other thread, and it sounds as if this car was def. a strip car...no ps, no a/c, 3500 stall...not a typical street car...good luck.

Clifton would know better than i, but....

at low speeds, the convertor will just slip more than a more streetable (lower stall) convertor would. do you know what rear gears are in this thing? that and cam info would help.

good luck.
