if you want the economy, go with subcompact Japanese. Like Sentra, Mazda 3, Corolla, or even Focus.

I myself currently own Geo Prism (Toyota Corolla), and gave me nothing but trouble free operation while maintaining 30+MPG.

But if you have a kid or other obrigation, then may be mid size cars like Altima, Camry, Fusion, Mazda 6

I mean choice is endless.
I would not get another money eater (i.e. Spending more money on performance upgrade, wheels, exhaust), like Civic Si, Sentra SE-R - U know, kind of car that you WANT to spend money on, or others that REQUIERS you to spend more money - like big pickup with V-8 or other so called sporty car that demans higher insurance premium.

i personally thinking my next daily driver to be choice between Mazda 3(I like it, but its been around for a while), New Sentra(which I really like, and its just had model change), or Fusion/Mazda 6(if finance allows it). I thought of new Corolla, but I do not like current model...

'93 escort wagon, lots of space, very reliable and forgiving suprisling. I am very rough on it and just do the basic maintenance and get an average 34+ MPG. plus its front wheel drive so you can do fast foodtray burnout!

I use the stang as my warm weather driver and then I have an F150 4x4 that I drive in the cold weather. Sad thing is the stang gets better MPG.

i got a 94 accord and a 90 nissan sentra. The sentra's a 4 speed it gets great gas mileage. 36mpg. I fill it up once every two weeks. The accord is nice too but the gas isn't as nice esp when u turn the a/c on but yeah i would go with something along those lines. I really like my brothers 04 honda accord. Its nice on gas easy to drive and auto and best of all maintaining that car is sooo easy.

^Use the Stang what is was made for-V-8 fun and crap.

Buy any subcompact grocery getter to do what it was made for. Commuting.

As simple as that, dont get any V8's and dont get anything that runs premium. Lincoln, Lexus and Acura are great for the above and they look pretty darn good as a luxury DD.

Geo Prizm FTW!

I got a 1996 1.8 LSi, she just hit 180K miles and still gets 34-36 MPG
shes really for inclement weather and when I dont feel like driving manual.
otherwise I will just drive the stang.

I just recently replaced the dis cap and rotor. but no real major issues, just regular oil changes and fluid flushes, etc..

Good luck.

31 mpg. 4 doors, American. Great insurance too, side curtain airbags.
It's really a nice car.

I just bought a Ford Edge. I love it. I love the seats, the room on the inside, the 3.5L v-6 is peppy, and the handling is awesome. It has AWD which is great for Indiana winters.

Nissan Altima is a solid daily, Honda Accord (what I sport lol), Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus/500, Ford Fusion, Volvo S60, Audi A4, BMW 3 series, etc. etc. etc.

What it comes down to is how much do you want to spend; and, do you want your daily to be nicer than your "toy" (stang) car, or you just want a beater?

Chrysler 300M. 4 doors, spacious, decent handling, quite a few luxury appointments, AutoStick for when you get the feel for "spirited" driving. Then again, It's not quite stock either! It's been an all around great car.
