Well got most of the parts in from DSS that I ordered last friday, except the pistons and rods. Turns out that someone from UPS needed them more than me along with my romac balancer or it may have fallen out of the box when it got ripped open, which I hope is the case in this matter. Got the box in and the side had been ripped open and taped back closed with only one strip of tape. The box was ripped from top to bottom so it had to be a quick heist.

What really sucks is that DSS can't just send me some pistons and rods since I had the assembly balanced by them prior to shipping.

ouch, thats not good. Have you checked w/ DSS to see what they have said about it? Cost should be covered by UPS insurance.

Something similar happened to me this week also with UPS. I'm not the one receiving my stuff usually, It goes at some warehouse. Anyway, I get there to pick up and I see the box for my Superior 31spline axles. It was opened...WTF. I pull the axles out and I see an enveloppe in there. It's my bearings, studs, bushings. WTF again. The enveloppe has been sliced about 2inches long. And guess what? I'm missing a wheel stud. Glad I always buy from Summit cause I told them that I was missing one and they will take care of it.

It's nothing to compare like you but ****** UPS

When I worked at UPS I remember people would sometimes look at a label and if it looked interesting they would open up the box and steal the parts or just throw it into the truck and everything would fall out. FedEx is the best way to ship if you want to be careful. My FedEx packages always arrive pretty much they way they were sent, but with UPS you always have a gash here or there and the box is bent in.

I tried to call DSS and they are closed until monday so no luck there. I called UPS and put in a claim with them.

As far as who shipped it DSS made that choice.

Well, when you only make $70k to drive a stupid brown truck around for half the day, you barely make enough to keep yourself fed and clothed. So you have to understand, they are only stealing so they can live.

slvrbullit302: that really drags, hopefully all you've have to waste here is some of your time in waiting for a new one.

I love this thread because I work for ups! about someone steeling you parts, its impossible for that to happen because of the security the warehouses have now. we have to walk through medal detectors everyday. we even have to roll up our pants so they can see of we hid anything in our shoes. if an employee steals something and another employee finds out and tell a super the employee who reported the incadent gets $5000 just like that!. most of the time when someone gets a box with something missing it is because it just fell out during the transport and they cant figure out what box it goes back into (it happens more often then you could even imagine.

P.S. DONT WRITE FRAGILE ON A BOX it gives the truck loader more of a reason to throw the package!!

also DONT SHIP UPS. IF U GET YOUR PACKAGE IT WILL EITHER BE DAMAGED OR MISSING SOMETHING!!!!!

I worked as a package handler so I know how it is. There were metal detectors but those security guys didn't really give a crap. Anyway you could easily walk outside the loading area and throw something over the fence and then get it after the shift is over. The amount they pay per hour isn't nearly enough for how much work there is to be done. I moved up to 2500 packages some nights during the christmas season and they only pay $8.50 an hour, subtract union fees and taxes and it came out to like $5 an hour. You could probably work at Burger King for that much money and it would be a much easier job. The only good thing about the job was that it was a good workout.

You could throw something over the fence but again the chances of you getting caught are huge! If you were making $8.50 and moving 2500 packages a night that means u must have been an unloader and that sucks. I REALLY REALLY HATE working there but I refuse to take out a student loan to pay for school. So it looks like im stuck there for another 2 years. Can someone please come and shoot me now

The statement about someone taking it was just me lashing out, but really and truthfully I dont see how just the pistons and rods and balancer is the only thing missing, I mean an unlabled plastic bag got put back in the box as well as the main and rod bearings and the box was ripped enough for everything to fall out. I believe you in saying that it may be fell out and that they didnt know which box it came out of. I hope that is the case.

I just hope that if they cant find them then the will pay for the return shipping of the crank to have a new set of pistons and rods balanced with it and the rebalancing cost.

I was trying to have this thing finished and tuned in time for Bristol FFW but looks as tho that is out of the question now.

Thanks for chiming in on this wrecked, the info you provided helps relieve some worries.

I do what I can! as far as the parts falling out of the box, when we handle boxes we often through them I know it sounds bad but we only have a certain amount of time to get stuff done. Heavy packages are the most likley to become damaged and when they do we usually just through some tape on it and call it good! In the UPS warehouse that i work in there are probably about 150 people working and out of that 150 people only about 10% actually like what they do so there is very little care taken when handling your packages. I know this sounds very bad but unfortunatly its the TRUTH!!

When I recived my Magnaflow catback a few months ago the box was visiabley damaged and the two pipes that come out of the back of the muffler were dented at the tips. Was an easy fix w/ a pipe extender but that was the first thing I ever recived that was damaged. As a matter of fact I think it came FED EX.
