Do you plan to have something you take in to charge every night?
I mean... There are packages out there that you can just plug into a cigarette lighter if you like.
In general, the hardwired kits give you extra modes like driving, parking, noise or shock activated recordings.

I have a dash cam in my 4runner thats "hardwired" to my cigarette lighter port. I've hidden all the wires so the only thing you see is the cigarette lighter connector, and a small little loop of the power cable going into the center console. Works great.

I put one of these in all my cars ,first day a red light runner shot in front of my 05 GT ,I managed to miss him but about a month later my sister was broad sided in her expedition , the other person claimed it was my sisters fault to the insurance company . My sister told them ,we'll, I have a dash cam would you like to see the video ,the insurance company paid off !
I put one in my neices car and again,a red light runner hit her head on ,my neice told the woman I got it all on camera so the woman didn't even try to fight it .
This camera works pretty well ,has inertia notification and locked video . ,has a speed indicator ,compas and GPS . Can take pics or video ,can't beat it for the price !

It plugs into your lighter and can be set to turn off at a certain time after the car is shut off so it can stay plugged in . Also cell phone compatible through wifi !
