Dash lights gone?

Hey everyone first post
I have an 01 mustang vert and my dash and shifter lights went out all of the sudden
.I checked the fuse and changed it because it was blown but they still don't work. I think it might be something with the adjustable brightness knob but I wanted to get some opinions before I go tearing into anything.Any help would be excellent!

check your dtc's you will probably find your answer

Ah drrrrrrrr it just clicked DIAGNOSTIC TESTING CODES I will have to go over my buddies and use his tester but will it tell me where my problem is with my lighting?

a friend had a similar problem in his Jeep Cherokee - turned out the wires going to the bulb in the shifter were chaffed, and shorting out..

the direct short blew the fuse the instant you put it in...

Re check the fuse and see if it blew out again. If so than theres a short. However if its not, Get a new light switch and change it out. They do go bad at least mine did. A new one is 20 bucks at least thats for a gt but it should be the same one.

and no, DTC's will not tell you why your I/P illumination lights went out.
