Dash Lights Out

Just purchased 1995 5.0 GT convertible and the dash lights are out. What I mean by "dash lights" is that the lights that come on when you turn your headlights on and not working. All the warning/idiot lights work and dome lights. This is what I have done so far...

1. checked fuses
2. replaced bulbs
3. replaced headlight switch

The brake light on the trunk is out, has anyone every heard that this can cause the dash lights not to function as a warning?

Check the wiring harness as it enters the headlight switch. Those are known to melt and stop conducting. The dash lights aren't connected to the center brake light and wouldn't stop working because of that.
