Hey, anyone have this problem when driving you can hear a crickity type squeaking coming from the dash sorta sounds like its coming from the center area between the window and dash?? Doesn't do it all the time but once in a while will just start?? Anyone know?? what did you do to fix it??

I think a lot of people have this problem.. and so do I.. Maybe I should ask the dealer next time I bring the car in.. It's annoying sometimes..

I have the same cricket sound in my 2001 Mustang GT. The sound in my car comes from the radio/cd area of the dash. The noise comes and goes.

Yes I know It´s an old thread but lately I been having the same problem.
Did anyone know how to fix it?

Next time you hear it press on the grill vents in the center above the stereo and the sound goes away for me. It seems to be the rubbing of these grill vents and the dash. Its annoying.

Nice to see I am not alone....

I have been hearing a noise that sounds exactly like a cricket coming from the dash, near the windshield, on the driver's side. It sounds like my front fender is slowly trying to break away from the car. Sorry I cannot lend an answer, but if someone knows what the hell is causing this please share!

Push in on the clutch, just by chance to see if it goes away while it's making the sound.

Sometimes your throwout bearing is squealing and sounds like it's coming from the center console at first.

I have the same problem, it seems to be coming from the center/top near the windshield. It just started to happen after I installed my strut brace so maybe theres a lose bolt.

Had the same problem here. I put some subframe connectors on the car and I rarely hear it anymore.

LOL. Yet another "they all do it" problem. My 02 does this. Seems worse when the car is hot a shticky inside from sitting in the sun with the windows up. Vents or other plastic in the upper dash...

Mine did the exact same thing, but I figured it out. There is a black plastic covering at the base of the windshield (outside the car where the windshield wipers are located) that had come loose. It is held in place with clips, and if one comes loose it makes a chirping sound that seems to come from the center of the dash. I simply popped the plastic piece back in place and the sound went away.

A friend of mine who is a bodyman at Ford said that wind gets under the piece and loosens it, causing it to move up and down a little as you drive which creates the chirping sound.

I got a cricket sound coming from my drivers side door somewhere. I good swift elbow to the door panel seems to quite it down for a little while.

my 97 v6 and my 2001 gt both do this, usually only at highway speeds and even then it doesnt always happen. my guess is that a certain amount of vibration causes it, but if I go faster or slower and change the frequency of the vibration then it goes away. may also have a temperature compnent to the squeek too since it only seems to happen on warm days.
