I'm starting to put my interior back together, and realizing the person before me hacked the **** out of this car. First, there are purple wires that run under the sill plate on the passenger side, and driver side. On the driver side, they go back into where the convertible top goes. On the passenger side, there disconnected at the connecters and not connected to anything. Second question, on the dashboard, in the middle where the three guages are, which wires go on which guages? And last, I am getting no dash lights to work at all. When I turn on the headlights, the only light inside that works is the one where the shifter is. Radio also doesnt work. Thanks alot.

Each year used a different harness. So......what year you got? Detail? Anyway, under the sill plates, possibly brake lights or rear turn signals, conv top motor, fuel sender.. The three wires for the gagues: try folowing or looking at the color of the oil sender(by the oil filter) and temp sender(on the intake). The fuel sender will be coming through a hole in the trunk floor and then tie into the tail lamp harness, it will be an off color from the rest of them. My tail lamp colors are blue and brown dark, and the fuel is yellow. The volt gague runs off the ignition or alternator. Also, on each gague there is a mass black wire that runs through all gagues except the fuel, basically one black wire that has 3 terminal connectors in series.

Thats for a 66 at least. You said you had gagues, so you at least have a 66 and up. Good luck.

uuuuggghhhhhhh...dash wiring....shudder

Where did you get that pillar gauge pod? I've added the factory tach to my '67 coupe and would really like to have the ammeter and oil pressure gauges back. I don't like hanging them under the dash and I also added the console so that real estate is getting a little dear, too.

A number of the vendors have them now, they fit all hardtops but not convetibles (see the small triangle shaped gap near the top?), I think I am going to have mine upholstered and fill the gap with foam.

You can also find them on ebay sometimes.

Not for 73 but you can pick up an assembly manual, the electrical one of course, for about $15 from a vendor. They have a;ll of the wiring diagrams. Some are hard to read but they can be scanned and enlarged if needed.

Sorry it took me so long to reply but I think I might be able to help. The purple wires that run in the sill plates most likely go to the seat belts. That is where they went to on mine at least. As for the wires for the gauges they should have the color of the wire printed by each terminal so you just have to match the wire color to the terminal. I don't know if that makes sense but if you need more help just let me know. I can post a pic if that helps.
