I'm installing a dashpad to a 65 model for the first time. I'm having trouble getting the screws in because of the weatherstripping on the windshield. Is there an easy way to do this, or is it a lot of hit and miss? Thanks

correct me if i'm wrong, but are you talking about the 2 metal pieces that go over the very back of the pad by the window rubber?

it's hit or miss doing that. once you get one in though, it's fairly easy.

You do NOT have to glue down the dash pad. However when removing the original, it seems like they were. I assume you are talking about getting the screws into the two metal molding strips which go over the windshild molding and cover the top of the dash pad and window weatherstrip. With the dash pad in place, find the holes with a metal scribe (punch thru the edge of the pad) then cut a small amount out with a pair of scissors or xacto knive CAREFULLY cut the dash pad away from around each of the holes. Then line up the molding pieces, remember, one goes on top of the other, and use the scribe (ice picks work also) to align the hole in the molding with the hole in the sheetmetal. If you watch the angle of the scribe and hold the trim firmly you can get the screw started much easier
