Has anyone had the dealer installed sirius satellite radio put on their car? I am looking at doing this, but I dont want someone to tear my whole car apart installing it. Also, does the antenae look hideous on the car? Can you just throw it in the back window, or will my 15% tint mess with the signal. Any personal experiences or advice is appreciated.

a friend has an 03 Lancer EVO VIII, with aftermarket XM radio. (professionally installed) the satellite antenna was installed inside the dash, (works as good as one of the ugly external antennas) and you can't see it at all.

I did the Visteon kit myself and I didn't have to tear anything apart really. It took me an hour and a half. I spent $250 on the parts.

alfman9 -

Sorry no experience - but I would really suggest you do what 'Silver2003Cobra's friend did (in dash) or 'masterchief2003' in back window. Those external satellite antennas I've seen are really fugly. Maybe there are newer/more sleek ones? If not, I would definitely ask that dealer prior the install where he was thinking about putting that antenna. I don't think tint would make a difference. Good Luck.

First off this isnt a plug n play kit that you get at best buy. It comes from Ford and installs under the passenger seat, then you control it with the stock Mach 460. They guy at the dealer wants $400 installed and says the signal would suck if the antena is inside. he says put it on the decklid. the problem is that the antenna is fricking huge, a lot bigger than the ones that come with the plugnplay kits. I am in a perdicament.
