decided to stick with my C6 tranny

I took out a pin and done some cipherin and figgerin for getting a TKO over here and installed. Over $6000 at the end of the day. I could rebuild a T5 with upgraded guts from GForce but that retrofit would still be $4000 plus.

I looked into an AOD and although cheaper to purchase and install than the T5, still over $2500. So I have opted to completely redo my C6. I will get a new 6 pinion planetary gear assembly from an E4OD. This has a 2.71:1 first, 1.53 second compared to 2.46:1 first and 1.46:1 second that you find in the stock C6, upgraded R servo, pump, valve body, clutches and bands, for under a grand. With a nice TC from edge racing, my total price will go to under $2k for the parts and installation. This way I have room to accomodate my World Man O War 427 (one day, over the rainbow) if my wife every goes crazy and lets me do it.

One thing that I would like to share is that when I was considering a built C4 to swap in place of my power hungry C6, I called TCI and asked what their shop experience was with any differences between the C4 and C6 with respect to drivetrain parasitic loss. The tech guy told me that their C4s make between 10-15 hp more than their C6s when behind the SAME engine. Pretty eye opening.

C4's are also lighter. Have you looked into the Gear Vendors (I think I got name right) overdive? They are nice on the C6.

The C4 may be lighter but if TCI's C4 makes only 10-15 hp more than one of their C6's behind the same engine in their shop, then I consider that swapping out the 6 for the 4 not to be worth it for only 15 hp max. As for the gear vendors, very expensive especially when you consider shipping and duty from the US to Eurabia. If I am going to spend another $4k on something, it is going to be new pistons and a SC, not for another tranny when the one I have works perfectly fine.

Have you looked at Broader Performance C6s? They also have C4s too. Both come in wide ratio versions with 2.92 1st (not sure if the C6 is 2.92 1st). They also have roller versions. Prices are good and i've gotten good comments about them. I almost went with a new roller wide ratio C4 from them instead of a T5z, but the T5z conversion won out.

Jay is awesome. That's where I got my parts for my C-4 2 years ago. Many trips to the track and bottles later it's still going. He helped me when I was having problems with my MVB. Took time and really talked to me. When I need parts, I will call him even if I can get them locally.:nice:

Let me break it down how I got to this decision.

old T5 World Class core: $100
G-Force Transmission guts: $1095
upgraded mainshaft: $335
5th gear (.75): $295
cross member: $150
Bellhousing: $200
Shifter: $200
clutch: $350
flywheel: $330
pedal assembly: $190
Cluster support: $56
hydraulic clutch cable: $260

so just to get to this point was $3460. And I figured if I were doing it, I might as well get lower gears (3.89 or 4.11) so at least another 150 there. then I would have to shorten the driveline or get a new one.

Labor and such would bring this to well over $4000. No way baby.
