When I put my motor back together I will leave out the smog pump and a/c. My ? is what do I need to do to delete the smog pump? Do I not reuse the pipe that goes from head to head in the back? I assume so. And that's pretty much it right? Then all I need is a shorter belt? like a 73.5 right? I tried to piece this together with old posts, but it's not working.. Thank you..

The pump is bypassed on my car and the ac is taken out. The Ford ac kit was used to move the power steering pump up and the smog pump was just bypassed. It is still there, just not used on the belt. You don't need to pull it off. I have a diagram of it on my computer but don't know how to post it. If you tell me how I will post it for you. Or I can just send it to you.

the pipe that i think u are talking about goes in the back of the heads right??? if you have the motor out take that pipe off and plug the holes. i left mine on becuase i have not taken out the motor yet. everything else associated with the smog pump can go, including the coal canister located in the front left hand side of your engine bay towards the bottom. also, you are going to have to re-route your belt. if you leave it running the factory way then the belt will rub towards the top. (or at least that is the problem i had) i cant quite remember the way to route it but as long as the crank and water pump are turning the same way as they would stock then you will have nothing to worry about.

ok im going to try to explain this the best i can so bare with me. if you look at the factory routing, the belt goes over the water pump to the right then goes back around the crank to the left and looks like a backwards "S" now, if you reverse so that way it looks like a normal "S" it will go over the water pump to the left and under to the crank. the belt should come strait from the bottom of the crank to the alternator. in stock form it goes from the water pump to the alternator. make sense, or did i just confuse you?? becuase i know i just confused my self. man my brain hurts
