Scotty is it still doing that? I just backed my timing off 2 degrees to keep it from doing that.

No, it's all good in the hood. Turns out that I had an injector that wasn't upto snuff. One day I was out for a drive, and the car just acted like it wanted to die in the worst way. Code said I had a misfire in #4. Injector went bad. I've since replaced it, cleaned my MAF, replaced IAC motor, and flushed the injectors.....running 87 octane and smooth sailing.

Well I'm half way through my first 93 octane tank and the detonation is gone. I've gotten on it hard in 3rd all the way past 5K, nothing, hit 4th and punch it up to redline again, still nothing. I'm glad the pinging is gone but hope I don't have to keep putting the expensive stuff in it.
If I were to go back to the standard 87 octane and it starts pining again should I go some where and have them look at dropping my timing back a few degrees?

I ran two tanks of premium and had no problems, plus it felt a little stronger running up to 5K. Since then I'm on my 2nd tank of regular and it's started doing it again and performance seems to have dropped a bit.
Would I be able to take it in and have the timing dropped back 2*?
Because I really don't want to have to pay for 91+ octane out here in California.
Or should I first start with a new set of plugs? As far as I know these are the stockers and I'm close to 80K on the odometer.

Very good!!! Diesel engines use glow plugs which must be heated before starting the engine so they will ignite the fuel and complete the triangle to produce a flame.

The air and the fuel are injected into the cylinder together at such a high pressure that the heat generated from both creates it's own fire.
