Detroit locker working properly?

The other day I was breaking in my new tires, was doing some burn outs. I was laying rubber only with the driver side rear. I checked the rear tire pressure and they were both the same psi. Is there something wrong with my detroit locker?

And an even louder "clank" when it disengages. That's why these never really caught on as factory equipment. Unless you were "into" cars, it sounded and felt like something broke when these went on and off.

You sure it's a Detroit Locker™? That's a very specific item. Ford used a few DL's, but mainly the Equalock™ on 64-68, and Traction-Lok™ on 68 up. In fact, the current Ford limited diff is a TL. The TL functions exacly the same as the GM Positraction™, using a wet clutch pack with a preload for minimum torque, and axle gear thrust to increase friction under load. Naturally, many things could have been added over the years, the DL is still in production.

yes this is a new aftermarket detroit locker. I added it when i rebuilt the rear.

Hoo boy, now it needs to be looked at professionally, to see if it's engaging. If it were winter out, I'd say find an ice patch, put one wheel on, one, and see if it engages. Could be a warranty issue, so don't let it go.

i know you checked the pressure but that really doesnt matter. its how tall the tire is that is important. measure the height on each one to make sure theyre the same (they should be).
