Ain't gonna do nothin but drive it.:D It's fast enough for me as is. Runs the 1/4 in the 13's (judging from it's performance against the Ranger) and tops in ( or rather bumps the rev or speed limiter) at above 140 mph.

Where are the pics of the ranger. I want to see that thing, it's not everyday you hear of a 13 second ranger.
There's pics of it somewhere on two Ranger sites ( therangerstation.com & rangerpowersports.com) in the V8 forums. From the outside, it pretty much looks like a stock ( I like the sleeper look:D ) 89 ext cab ( silver blue over silver) except for the 15 x 10 aluminum slots, shod with 275/60/15 rubber in back and the Summit girdle cover on the narrowed 8.8 rear. Only when I crank it up, do people notice the sound of the V8 with the Z303 cam loping in there. Or the disappearing taillights when it passes them:D A few sharp eyes will pickup on the Chevy, 68-Z28 "302" fender emblems on the fender fronts, just behind the head lights, similar to where Ford put the 289 emblems on the 65-66 Stangs. The thread on therangerstation V8 forum and is titled "Beware--------the 331 is up and running":nice:

And while you are answering that question...

what is the OD of the axle tubes on the Ranger? I need to come up with Ubolts for the 8.8 going into my '66 (which is out of an 89GT).

Thanks.

BTW: your *new* Mustang sure looks like a classic to me. Beautiful car!

Hey D. Hearne, What exhaust system do you run on your ranger and on your 68 Merc?
The Ranger system is Shelby type Tri-Y's into 2.25" duals with a 4"x12" long "equalizer chamber" ( my own fabrication) just before the 2.5" Dyno Max turbos, the whole thing exits at the rear under the bumper. The Merc has FPA headers dumping into dual 2.25" pipe also with Dyno Max Turbo's.

I don't recall what size the tubes are on the Ranger ( sorry don't have time at the moment to measure them) but the 8.8 came from a 94 Explorer. I believe the Explorer has larger tubes than a Stang ( they have 31 spline axles)

Don't bother measuring for me.

You are correct. They are larger axle tubes on the explorer. IIRC 3.25", as compared to ~2-7/8" for the Mustang rear.

Guess I'll have to spend a little time in a wrecking yard after all. :(

Thanks anyways, and have fun with the new "hot rod".

I test drove one of those a couple weks ago ... can't get it out of my system. May have to get one for myself. Roush says just put in an after-axle exhaust, cold air and a custom tune. There's 30-40hp in that, and the rest of usual stuff doesn't amount to much (e.g., pulleys).
