Does the predator come with tunes that I can just plug and play if I wish to do so or do I have to make a custom one myself? How much can one expect to gain with this tuner?

I wanted to bump up my timing and I may just get the tuner since there are more options. What can I expect to gain at the wheels? My mods are in my sig.

You get the latest standard performance tune for your car. You can adjust the fuel and timing for example, but really need to be on the dyno when you do it. For example, adding timing can cost you HP and increase the risk of detonation.

so if you load the standard diablo performance tune, you don't have to worry about anything other than putting in 91 octane of fuel right?

Diablosport Predator cost about $390-$400. pretty sure you have to run 91 octane with it. I think you can run 87 octane using Hypertech's Powerprogramers.

The Diablo and SCT are a little more versatile than the hypertech..But hypertech advertises you can run regular fuel with theirs...however I dont see how it could make more power.

My Dad got the Diablo and has had some problems with it. The speedo calibrator isnt working with the tuned programs and Diablo doesnt know why..

I got the SCT and I think its better..and it has more customer support behind it..They both are about the same price.

Dugan has the Diablosport for 369 shipped..thats about the cheapest ive seen..

The Predator is out there for $350. You can run 87 if you want but you'll have to pull back the timing. For savings of about $2.00 a tank, I don't think it's worth it. You lose out on some of the added power.

DiabloSport is aware of a problem with calibrating the speedometer on the factory HP tunes. It works with the Performance Tune.

Yes, DiabloSport is aware of the Factory HP tune not setting the speedo correctly. Hopefully the next revision will update that.

You can pull your timing back and run 87 octane. It is easy to do. That is what I am doing now. I need the speedo calibration, so I had to install the Diablo Tune, which ups the timing. So I manually readjusted my timing so I can run 87-89 octane without problems.

On my car I had to pull timing to run 91 octane gas. It mentions in the owners manual that the Predator tune is set up for 93 octane gas and that you may need to retard timing 10% or more. In my case I had to retard timing 15% from 2000-4000 rpm and 17% from 4000-7000 rpm.

With the perfromance tune inside the preditor the you WILL ping if you don't run at least 91 (perferably 93). I've expereinced it first hand. Check Ebay for a tuner. I'm selling mine their soon. ( Going to a flip chip because of my nitrous setup)

Yep I have the hypertech tune and it WORKS with 87 but YOU WONT GET AS MUCH POWER unless you use more octane. However with that extra punch... its well worth it.
