We have recently begun having problems with the GT and I am wondering if any of you experts could help diagnose the problem.

She is having a hard time starting (rough start, low idle) and you can smell gasoline in the exhaust. Once she will stay running, it is obviously not hitting on all cylinders until you've been driving about 5-10 minutes then there is a sudden surge and all the power comes back. We are diligent about routine maintence but have not done any major work to her. We have about 120k on her now. Any ideas on where to start? I have already changed the fuel filter, checked spark plugs, and cleaned the injectors. TIA guys!!

Be careful about driving it this way. If you are running an excessively rich mixture, your catalytic converters (assuming you still have any) will be glowing red hot.

have you changed the fuel filter recently? try cleaning the iac too.

Good info. I would have to guess at a fuel pump problem also.
