Roush Difference Between 2004 S281 and GT???

Hello everyone.

I don't venture to the special production forum much, have a question for you guys.

My dad is looking at 2004 Saleen.

Besides the obvious stuff (exterior, interior, suspension) what's the difference between the two drivetrains...horsepower, tranny, rear end.

Price can be relative to condition and what floats your boat. www.nadaguides.com has some guidance on prices. You can also look at similar ads at www.saleenls.com or www.soec.org

Also at SOEC you'll be able to find some literature in our Literature section -- spec sheets and other historical info no matter what year you're shopping for.

Though there are some minor mods on a non-supercharged Saleen there's not a huge horsepower difference from a stock GT, but the Saleen is a package and puts that horsepower to better use. You're looking at 290hp with Powerflash calibration, and that's not too shabby depending on the gears it's equipped with.

Ask for a copy of the window sticker and/or certificate of authenticity so you know the equipment.

The 2004 NA S281 gains a free-flow air filter, MagnaFlow catback, and a tune.

In 2003-2004 Saleen redid the stock Ford seats.

Transmission is OE Ford except for the shifter.

Rear end... stock Ford unless someone ordered the optional gearing and/or MaxGrip.

One thing to keep in mind, not that it matters, but dealers were motivated to sell the 2004 Saleens when they were new and leftover. More so if you find out the car was sold new in 2006 or 2006. Meaning most original owners of '04s got a good deal.

No, not realistic unless it's a supercharged convertible.
Seems like most Naturally aspirated cars hover around the low 20's.
