difference between a 5.0 and a 5.0 HO

like the title says whats the difference and how do i make a regular 5.0 an HO

i'm pretty sure it has to do with the pistons, and i know there is a difference in firing orders between the two.

Firing order, pistons, maybe rods, non-HO are not hydraulic rollers.

Cheaper to buy a good used H.O roller block than mess with conversion.

Major difference is firing order. non-HO is 1-5-4... HO is 1-3-7...
Some non-HO motors have roller cams esp. the late model Crown Vics. Most have flat top pistons which limits your cam lift to basically stock
If you have an Non-HO motor in an HO Mustang, you need to swap the camshaft to an HO cam or it won't run right

Camshaft is the main difference.....that's what changes the firing order. The motor doesn't have to be roller since the 84 H.O. wasn't roller and it didn't have forged pistons either......I believe it's just the camshaft.

Cam, heads, intake, firing order... That's about it.

Not even the heads......E7TE heads are actually from 302's out of F150's.....nothing "H.O." about those.
