Difference in 5spd tranny?

Check the sticker on the inside of the door frame, driver's side. Under the section 'TR', a "6" indicates a T-45, a "K" indicates (you got lucky and got the) Tremec 3650.
You must be shopping for an aftermarket shifter? Just guessing!
Welcome to StangNet!!!

The way I found out that I had a T-45 was by the drain plug location. The ford technician showed me, but I forgot what he said. I think he said if the plug was located high on the transmission then it was a t-45, but if it was lower then it was a t-3650.

So I ordered a Tri-Ax for a t-45 and it fits.

Sorry I was vague, but it was last year that I finally found out what transmission I had.

Thanks for all the help. I am looking for a shifter. It sounds like most of you like the tri-ax. Last time I was part shopping was back in '94 for my 5.0. Alot has changed! :p It's great how everyone is here for the love of our stangs! This is my 5th! Can you say addiction! :rlaugh:

Many people love the tri-ax and almost as many swear by the Pro 5.0. I'm in the latter group. The Tri-Ax has a twisted 'stance' more like the OEM, hense it's name, whereas the handle is tilted over toward the driver. The Pro 5.0 is shorter, straighter, with a steel handle, the Tri-Ax is aluminum. Both are quality units. But, we have both and my wife and I both prefer the Pro 5.0 in my GT.
