difference in CC plates 79-89 90-93?

I am looking into getting a set of used bbk cc plates from a friend, my only concern is after looking around at other sets, they specify different model years. I have an 88 and the car there on is 90+ if anyone could clarify the difference I appreciate it!

bbk has two different ones, 79-93 and 94-04
ford racing sells 87-89, 90-93, and 94-95.
not sure why though.
