Differences in 99-04 engines

Consider yourself lucky it has a T45. It's a stronger tranny. Just do a search on the 3650 and you'll see why.:nice:

Stronger in what way??

The t-45 is rated at 330 ft-lbs, the t-3650 is rated at 360 ft-lbs. The 3650 is the stronger transmission.

The 3650 just has some shifting issues. The t-45 has issues of it's own. Can't tell you how many of my friends have suffered the "stuck in reverse" problem.

My 3650 shifts fine, and i would prefer it over the t-45 if i ever had the option

hate to butt in yall, but "pump gas" means 87 octane? whats recommended by ford for 99-04, and whats the real truth? :p

The GT will run on 87. However around '01 there was a slight bump in compression that puts the 01+ right on the border of 87/89

since new, my car has not liked 87 on warm days. In the wintertime i run 87 all day long with no probs, but once summer comes around it will detonate slightly when it's warm (or if i'm driving around with the A/C) As a result, when i know it's going to be 80-90 degrees, i run 89 octane. But when it's cooler (60-70) i can run 87 no prob.

It's done this since new.

Sorry guys. My newb blood is showing through. :rlaugh: I have read some negative stuff on the t-3650 and assumed it was not as good as the t-45. My bad.

a 2000gt will use regular (87 octane).

if you look at the intake manifold and it still has the plastic coolant crossover, have them change it to the 01-04 manifolds with the aluminum coolant crossover.

looks like a good deal man, if u can talk em down to 8k that's a steal. If it's still a plastic coolent crossover use that as a bargaining point saying you'll have to pay to change that out anyway.

Whats wrong with the plastic coolant resevoir? I've never heard of anything with that, I have a 2002 that has a plastic resevoir, and my bro has a 2004 GT with the same plastic resevoir. Ive only seen the alum on the cobras. I knew the pre 2002 cars had bad intakes but that's it.

ive been running 91 since i bought it, i wonder if that has anything to do with it overheating on me in 105+ degree heat everyday :bang:

spederman: i think theyre talking about the crossover in front of the intake, pre-01 models (or so i believe) come with a plastic crossover, as in the path the coolant takes in front of the intake manifold, not the resevoir on top of the rad. im a noob so dont take this seriously if im wrong :D

i passed up the bullitt. I couldn't afford the 10,800 they were asking for it, so i decided to drive my 89 until the winter rolls in and mustangs might be a bit cheaper lol. hopefully divorce motors may be opening for business and i get lucky one of these times :)

Never wish for another mans misery..

I am without a stang right now because I am trying to buy a house, but I rather be stangless then give some vulture my money for a car that the court system stole from another guy. The car would feel tainted to me.
