I was just wondering if the 8.8 differentials are interchangeable? A friend of mine has a 8.8 w/3.73 gears that he wants to sell fairly cheap. I want gears for my car (was thinking about 3.90) but for the price he wants for the rearend I would go with it if it would work!

Even the 8.8 out of a 1990 5.0? Sorry if this is repetitive, I just want to make sure!

All 8.8's are the same. Ring and Pinions that is. There are of course, different splined differentials, but that has no effect on the Ring and Pinion.

I thought the 8.8 from the Fox Bodies was a different width?

That's what my question really is. I know the ring and pinion would work, but I want to know if the entire differential will fit without any modification!

the overall case is different. the fox bodies have a narrower case and narrower axles IIRC. but the center diff is the same.
