I researched this recently, and that's right - nothing is different. The blocks, crank, pistons and rods are 100% identical. It's the H/C/I that's different.

I'm in CA, so I gotta worry about emissions. When I rebuild my GT's engine, I'll be putting the Cobra H/C/I on plus the 24lb injectors. Then I'm saying I dropped in a Cobra engine. Great way to legally get 24/lb injectors.

I *think* some of the older(~'86ish) 5.0 blocks had forged pistons.

They ended the forged pistons in 1992.

89-92 5.0's had forged pistons only. 96-98 & 99/01 cobras had forged cranks only. 03-04 had entire assembly forged.

would you recommend forged internals?

If it has a good tune, the block wil break in half before anything on the bottom end goes.

I think forged internals in a stock block is a waste. If you go with forged internals at least upgrade to a sportsmans block.

They dont know what injectors your have. Me and my friends have passed emissions with 24# and 30# injectors with no issues. Those guys have no clue.

i guess so . it's kind of weird, i'd figure the newer motors would be forged. i got a 94 cobra, and it's kind of strange, that my other stang's motor, that's 17 years old is probably more bullettproof than my baby!(the cobra)

no, you dont se4e everyone melting pistons with power adders in 95s do you?

you got a lighter piston that takes away less HP to spin than the trw anchors... for all motor its better.

i have trw anchors

and to the guy who broke your crank... you probably neglected your harmonic balancer

nah not really. bulletproof is a term not to be used with any stock 5.0 block

as long as you arent spraying and running way lean there is no reason why they wont make the same power.

i have seen all make over 500 to the wheels
