Dirt Bike, Wheels, H/C/I, Save???

So I've saved up probably around $1000 this summer and don't know what to do with it.

"I just don't know what to do with myself..." (drum fill)

Since I haven't been able to figure it out, I turn to good 'ol Stangnet- suggestions people, maybe a short explanation???

EDIT: i kinda forgot to mention that I already have 3500 saved for college funds, which probably wont even be touched except for gas and books

I'm an 18yr old college sophomore at UCI (keep that in mind)

coming from one of the younger guys on this board, i say you should save it for a rainy day. whenever i get new money, i tuck it away. thats just how i was raised. just sit back and watch it grow

i def. think you should just add that to your college fund. there is a lot more mod money when you are a successful person rather than blowing your wad on some parts.

yea that's a good point, but it's also 3+ years away... and i've only had it for like 6-7 months- i don't wanna lose the passsion

i guess takin it slow is not a bad thing

saving it would be cool, but i know u wanna spend it on some parts, so i would go with and intake, short throw shifter, and some other minor parts...

I'm a senior... my frat brother, about 4 months ago, got a 98 R6 sport bike for 1800 dollars and I've ridden as much as he has! I would look for something like that. I've ridden bikes since I was 17 and I can definately tell you that there is nothing more fun then a powerful sport bike.

dirt bikes are only fun if you have a lot of places to go riding them... I'd save a little more and buy a street bike if it was me. But from your choices I'd go with the H/C/I.

Dont be Sccuuuurrrrreeddd. LOL JK bro. I knwo what you mean. Lane splitting can get pretty hairy sometimes. But Now that I have a street bike I cant imagine life without one. I call it my Poor mans Porsche.

you're right, there are less and less places to ride every day. and with a no to the street bike... one more for HCI

I would vote for the H/C/I BUT you need the induction and exhaust mods first to get the most out of it. also a good shifter is pretty important too!

First of all check out insurance on a sport bike at your age you will not be able to afford anything else or save money.

Now a dirt bike I can see. I have 3 bikes and other toys and I am waiting on my forth bike a 05 Kawasaki KX250F.

But I go motocross Racing every weekend. My 15 y/o is Fricking FAST He is top 3 in the 125 JR class in our state.

But if I were you I would save for a rainy day if you are going to college. School first and then work on getting your toys like dirt and street bikes.

He's right about the sport bike Ins. Especially in CA. When I bought my bike I was 18. Full coverage for an 18 yr old on a super sport 600 was running me $220/per month. But I didnt have the greatest driving record at the time.

If it were me, I'd keep saving for the car.

Dirt bikes are extremely fun, and you could find a very "decent" dirtbike for 1000 bucks. I thought when I was buying a dirt bike that I wanted a "big" bike because those little 100's and 150's sucked. I bought a YZ-250. Any one that knows about these things can tell you how ignorant they are. I'm actually afraid to do crazy stuff with it because it's so fast. I can pull the front end up going about 35-40, even with those knobby dirt tires that are on it.

Moral of the story: if you are going to buy a dirtbike, buy something "cheap" and anything more than 150 is probably too much.

If you are carefull about the "sport bike" you choose, the insurance can be easy to handle if you keep a clean record. Don't get anything with R or RR or most definatly not RRR in the name, many great sport bikes out there without. I have Superhawk and a RC-51 in the garage, one for street, one for track. the 'hawk is nearly every bit the bike the RC is.. and cheap insurance.

I always thought that if you wore a helmet and didnt owe any money on the bike, you didnt need to have insurance Thats just what I have heard around here...

no offense guys, but we've gotten a little off topic here... although i think sport bikes are really cool and have respect for anybody who rides 'em, I even move over to let them by... I am not even considering one, and need more opinions on the real question (no offense intended guys)

I'm seriously leaning towards a new shifter, silver wheels either 10.5 or spacers, and maybe a digital camera or intake... dunno really

Got $1000, You decide...

1. Should I be responsible and save it for a rainy day (ie engine/tranny/random parts fail)?

2. Should I save up a little more for a decent Dirt Bike?

3. Should I buy the 17x9 front and 17x10.5 Cobra-Rs in CHROME?

4. Should I buy the 17x9 front and 17x10.5 Cobra-Rs in SILVER and a digicamera?

5. Should I save up a little more for an HCI (Thinkin AFRs, typhoon/trickflow/ebrock, maybe fti)?

6. Buy random things (Digital Camera, Pro50/Triax, Prochamber Hpipe, Tbody, MAF, Intake)?
