I live in the mountains of north carolina (where i go to college), during hte winter they dump tons of salt on the roads which consequently eats up my rims (i have cobra-r aluminum alloy rims). As a result they are sporadically covered with small rust stains which i cannot get out (nor can any place ive taken it apparently). I was wondering what I need to do? Get them dipped in chrome? approx. how much would that cost and does anyone know a good place in NC that would do it for cheap? damn these things have been a money pit! Thanks guys!

I'm sorry I do not know what can get those rust stains out. One thing you need to do is every time you drive in that snow with the salt try to rinse your undercarriage and rims. It's either that, or do what most others do and get a beater, FWD car for the winter. As far as re-dipping the rims, I understand that few places do it, at least where I'm from, and it is very expensive. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I don't know exactly a way to fix your rims, but I do think that they could be re-dipped, but that would be expensive. My suggestion to you is to buy your self some steel wheels put some winter tires on (if it does snow a lot there), and then use those in the winter months.
