disassembly

I went to the dollar store and bought an assload of ziplock bags. then As I pulled the bolts off I slipped a piece of paper with what it was written onto it.

Taking it apart is the easy step! Just do as you've been advised and KEEP IT ORGANIZED. Use labels, bags, a video camera or pictures (digi or Poloroid are best so you can see them right away). For paint, the more you remove the better off you'll be. I drove mine to the shop with no windows, trim, or interior in except the drivers seat, steering column, and gear shifter.

As far as what to take off its a matter of preference. I personally like to remove all crome trim (like around windshields), and emblems, Head and tail lights, blinkers etc... the more you can remove the better paint job you'll achieve. IMO there is nothing worse than a paint job that looks good from a distance then you walk up on it and see paint on rubber seals or trim. And just like everybody else said label, label, label.
...and when you took out the paper all of the writing was obliterated by oil/grease/rust/dirt right?hungrymonkey said:
I used a sharpie and wrote on the outside of the bags, I also liberally sprayed WD40 inside the bags, that made the bolts easier to cleanup later. I used about 50 bags on my car, and would suggest using at least twice that many. My mistake was putting too many parts into one bag even though they, for example the steering column could have used 4 bags instead of one to keep things even more organized.
