ARe in your cally? If not dont worry because youll pass.

Emissions arent a big deal in most states. Just make sure you have cats and youll pass. Some people pass with o/r pipes because some places dont even check under your car. They didnt check under mine and i took the time to remove my mac O/R h for my mac catted h.

dont worry about it. Enjoy the new sound.

Yeah you will probably pass. You know what ticketed me off. I got a letter in the mail saying that they detected performance enhancing software installed and that it will be an automatic failure the next time, even though I passed smog.

scupking:

"Performance enhancing software suspected" sounds very Big Brother-ish to me, lol. I suggest that you call Tim (your tuner) and have him confirm that the "sniffer squad" cannot tell that there is "performance enhancing software" installed. They may suspect it is installed but they can't truly tell. This question has come up on the SCT forums and the latest word is that tunes are tunes are tunes and the emissions tester cannot detect stock from not stock.

only stock cats in Cali, everything else is illegal, and you can risk getting your car impounded if you are pulled over with them.

i ran a practice on a 04 cobra with a kenne bell, 60lb injectors and a bassani x pipe. it failed tailpipe.

True, but it depends on the shop (and how retarded the workers are). I passed with a catted Bassani X-pipe no problem. I guess they didn't know what they were looking at. But I'm not going to lie, I'm nervous about my vortech passing lol. It has a CARB stamp but my IC is custom

Every catted X I have tried still tripped the MIL. If you plan on doing anything in the future mod wise like gears, shift points, etc., get a tuner and turn them off. No visual here where I live and as long as I dont have a MIL on or p1000 then the Mach passes with an O/R X.

Where do you take your car to get smog? I'm lazy and don't want to take my o/r x off when the time comes so I might just talk to the guy and try to get him to just pass it.

I think that pypes makes an obdII certified hi flow cat now which is 50 state legal on 96 and newer cars. I just saw an add for it, check the new mm&ff I think it was in there. It doesnt show it on their web site though so maybe it was someone else.

according to the BAR, there is a set approved for obd2 mustangs with a 3..8L manufactured by Airtek/Catco and there is a set for 94-01 mustangs with "multiple TWCs" manufactured by Car Sound. none about pypes.

Looking at this subject line, I really want to say something about beans in cat food, but I won't.

If the rear o2 sensors are turned off with your tuning software then you will fail the emissions test in CT. (get the letter in the mail saying that there is a problem) The emissions software checks those voltages to be sure the cats are doing their job as part of the KEOR test. There are some supposeded tuners that always turn them off, whether you have cats or not. Maybe it makes his life easier, less chance of a comeback due to a MIL on.
