do heat extractor hoods work?

HI all

I've been searching around to see if the hood extractor hoods really work. I get the typical heat soak and hate it very much. I have a CAi and a stock (scoopless) GT CS hood on my 07 vert.

My searches did find that I should go with cervini due to their quality, but the main reason why I would get one would be for good ventilation and actual temp drops in traffic and overall.

Is there any one who compared engine bay temps with different hoods? that would be best. I've tried foruma nd google searches...

Like anything performance oriented it works off road....in other words track only for example, if you're looking for cooler temps from a hood sitting in traffic not going to happen. Heat extractor hoods work off of airflow and increased air pressure from engine heat vrs lower air pressure from outside.

They should lower underhood temps a bit, at speed like tommy said. Basically, less resistance for incoming air. I've also heard it helps to reduce (if not eliminate) hook shake at high speeds.

One of the reasons they work better while moving is due to the fast moving air flowing over the top of the hood which "pulls" the air out from vents (due to pressure difference). That is why you see just about, if not all, heat extractor hood vents sloped toward the windshield.

they do look good, but i like the stock hood too. interesting that u see heat escaping, it must do at least a lil at a stop.
