Lately it has felt a little extra hard to turn the steering wheel than every before. I put more power steering fluid in because it had gotten a little low and it seemed to help some. Also I guess it could be from the cold? Any Suggestions?

I think they suck, and if you ever run yours dry like mine was (don't ask) it will make noise FOREVER...

My two Foxes (3.8 liter and a 5.0 liter) had whining and bawling issues. Not heard much about 4.6's having issues--then again, the clock is still young on these cars.

My '04 is quiet as can be.

If you are adding fluid to a closed system, have you inspected for leaks? That would be a bigger issue--to stop something before it gets worse and you burn up your pump.
Misaligned belts, improperly tensioned/sized belts can cause premature bearing wear on all of your driveline accessories. Your pump could be the culprit itself.

Did you use power steering fluid or Mobil One synthetic ATF?

Might want to pull out the old owner's manual and see what it says you should put in there... Here's a hint, its not power steering fluid...

I put power steering fluid in. I guess I should take a look at the owners manual. Also There is some fluid on top around the cap like it could be leaking some.

When was the last time you replaced your serpentine belt? It could be slipping.

place it and see what happens. It could also be your belt tensioner. Make sure the belt is pretty tight.

As for what fluid to use, the manual should say MERCON ATF.

At least that's how it is on my 04.

Slightly off-topic:

Has anyone gotten a bad steering creak? Mine happens when turning the wheel left. Sounds like wires tensing up. Dunno. Happened after I put the bigger tires on.
