All of the '68 Specials were Ford's attempt to recover sales that were being lost to the Camaro and others. By '68 the Mustang had lost some of it's original appeal as competitors entered the "pony" market. The Mustang was still a year away from a remake in '69 so Ford chose to offer some variations. All of the '68 "Special" Mustangs were fundamentally the same: '65 "Bird tailights, specialgrapics, etc. They were produced to appeal to regional markets were sales were sagging.
BTW, at this point in time (2004), these cars may now be and ARE located all over the world.
