Does anyone have info on Mustang Specials?

  • Sponsors (?)

All of the '68 Specials were Ford's attempt to recover sales that were being lost to the Camaro and others. By '68 the Mustang had lost some of it's original appeal as competitors entered the "pony" market. The Mustang was still a year away from a remake in '69 so Ford chose to offer some variations. All of the '68 "Special" Mustangs were fundamentally the same: '65 "Bird tailights, specialgrapics, etc. They were produced to appeal to regional markets were sales were sagging.

BTW, at this point in time (2004), these cars may now be and ARE located all over the world.

I know the cardinial special did exist. I've never seen one but I've heard them mentioned in mags (I'll try to sort though my stockpile and see if I can find anything useful). Being that I live in NC, I would love to find one. Don't quote me on it but I beleive they were all red with a cardinial badge.
