does anyone know if a newer computer will work in a 96-98 PI swap?

I was just wondering if you can take a 99 PI computer and put it into a 97 GT without a lot of modification. Seeing as how most of the parts are interchangeable, and the interior is almost identical, do you think the newer computer would be able to plug in to the 97 harness without modification..........or little modification? I just thought it would be easier and maybe a better option if it would work than trying to program/dyno-tune the computer. And if it would work , do you think that since there is a slight increase in compression over the regular PI that it would really make any difference? I thought I would also be able to continue to use my Superchips programmer if I did it this way too? Does anybody know for sure what the outcome would be? Has anyone tried this with good/bad results??

i'm not 100% sure on this but i highly doubt a 99 ecm will work in a 97 because of the differences in the fuel system (return/non-return) and ignition system (coilpacks/cop)

just keep the ecm that's in your car and get it tuned
