I replaced the old ALT and the Distributor componets at the same time. I got a pointless Dist system.

The first Alternator I bought from Pep Boys, and it turned out to be bad. So I exchanged it for another.

Current Symptoms:
When I start the car life is great
10 minutes into driving, the ALT light flashes
If I stop and idle, it stops. Drive again, and it starts again

I can repeat this over and over. The first 10 minutes of every drive is perfect.

Any thoughts on what might be the problem?

Also, I bought a multi meter, and I can't figure out how to use it. It is the Actron $19 thing:

What settings should I use? where to I put the points, where should the needle go? Where should the knob be? the instructions were in Spanish.
