Does the SES light effect performance?

Anyone know because mine has been on, and I just haven't gotten around to fixing the MILs. I had the codes checked just to be sure and it is the o2 sensor but I was just wondering if it would effect performance at all.

No, as long as it's the rear O2 sensors.

agreed most if not engines light on the mustangs are emssion telated so they will not pull power

I believe it does affect performance. When I had my 00GT dynoed one time it dynoed less hp because the SES light was on. If I remember correctly it was someting about not letting the car rev past a certain rpm(my 00gt was an auto).

Here's something Dan posted a while back, and I believe he's an expert on this subject:

Rear o2 sensors are merely cat monitors, and play no role in engine control.

Read carefully here: Your car will run exactly the same with or without MIL Eliminators. Their only function is to prevent the P0420 and P0430 low-cat efficiency DTC's from being triggered when you remove your cats.

Again, rear o2 sensors play no role in engine control. No change in A/F ratio, no pulled timing, nothing.

I feel I have a little bit of experience on this subject since we've troubleshooted DTC's for the past 4 years for this very topic...

Just disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and the SES light will go out. I deal with this same problem on occassion due to my MIL's. The only down side is you'll have to reprogram your radio presets and clock.

Disconn of the battery is a temporary fix. If the CEL is on for a reason, it will come back.

This is true! I'm only suggesting the battery disconn as an option assuming that the car owner knows he's having MIL/rear 02 sensor problems following an exhaust upgrade.

If there is another problem, then disconnecting the battery is going to do nothing. The SES light should come right back on or stay on if there's more to it.

In all but 1 of my instances of fixing in this manner, it's always been the same thing. The one time I mention, I never had the car checked to confirm it was the MIL's. After I disconnected the battery, though, the SES light remained off.

I see a trend, though, where there's water (standing from rain) or heavy condensation. I think water is getting into the MIL connectors and causing the fault codes (for me anyway). I plan to have the computer reflashed soon by T&J to get rid of this problem altogether.

What kinda prices would it cost for a reflash by T&J? IM local so that would be easy and I dont plan on modding anymore.

I had no idea about it, I might be able to drive in depending on what the deal is. Where can I get more information on prices and stuff.

I'm not sure if there is any more room in regards to actually dynoing your car and/or getting it tuned but your more than welcome to come by and check it out.

Well part of it is I have been driving to Atlanta every weekend for a while now, and not to mention my car is in shawty condition. Bumper is messed up, got an exhaust leak, car is dirty.
