I have a 1988 mustang with a 2.3L it needs a starter but I have some 5.0 starters. Do they fit the 2.3?

Sorry if I wrote on the wrong group or thread

You're good here but the 2.3 starter uses a three bolt mount surface and the 5.0 pushrod engine uses a two bolt mount soooooo no bueno.
Sorry.

Wow, what a concept, buy a starter and build a car around it!!
@Jose2008 pull the starter off the 2.3 and compare it to the 5.0 PR starter. Gotta pull it anyway.

i have a starter off of a 1988 ford thunderbird 2.3 turbo, it came off a Manuel transmission car, not sure if it's different than an automatic or not. also, not sure if you have an auto or stick car its yours if you pay for shipping! it's the exact same as my 87 mustang 2.3 starter. I haven't tested it though, that's the only gamble you'd be taking if you're interested. feel free to send me a message!

Newest starter on the 2.5l sohc Lima 99ish rangers is a high torq starter but does require a minor wiring modification
