Doing the job right on a de-smogged SN95

Hi guys.
I'm working on a "de-smogged" SN95 (95 GT) belonging to my buddy.
Problem is that in the opinion of a previous owner, de-smogged means remove stuuf and put in the trash. The EGR is gone, the smog pump is also gone. As is a fair bit of the vacuum plumbing and thermactor valves, etc.
Consequently the car has the dreaded surging idle.

I'm going through a surging idle check list and I'm getting improvements (but the car is not right yet) but one thing is giving me a little trouble. I read that the thermactor feedback wire need a 10ohm resistor connecting to it but I can't find anything that looks like a possible candidate. Can anyone enlighten me as to where I might find it (presumably somewhere in the area of the right side inner fender) and what it might look like please.............???

This made a difference on mine. Not sure if it will help but try turning your idle screw to close the throttle valve which will decrease engine speed. Rotate the screw 1/2 turn at a time (remember where you started from). After you change it, turn engine off, then restart. I am not an expert but I think it causes the computer to recalibrate.

Is the throttle body clean? If not, start off by cleaning but do not spray carb cleaner directly because if it enters the throttle position sensor you will be buying a new one.Spray on cloth and wipe parts. If carbon is really baked on, spray on scotch brite.

There are instructions for adjusting the throttle position sensor you will find somewhere here. Measure voltage and rotate sensor body to the reading is correct.

Check for vacuum leaks.
