DONT BUY CHEAP ROLLER ROCKERS!...Here's Why..(pics)

Just got back from Joe Heck Racing and picked up these from Joe Amato for $289 .... http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=632
They didn't have 1.7's in stock so I got the 1.6's....MUCCCHHH better quality than the ones I'm taking off
Will be using this order to set the valve lash to 1/2 turn preload

Rotate the engine in its normal direction of rotation (clockwise) and watch the exhaust valve on that particular cylinder. When the exhaust valve begins to open, stop and adjust that cylinder's intake rocker arm.

Continue to turn the engine, watching that same intake valve/rocker you just set. It will go to full open and then begin to close. When it is almost closed, stop and adjust the exhaust rocker arm on that particular cylinder.

Scorpion rockers are blue too, so don't just go by color. Scorpions are a quality piece. They laser etch then with the scorpion now but I had a set before that was not etched with one. They did have a "1.6" eteched into them though.

So I just ordered the Ford Racing 1.6's But they were for 3/8 studs....I had 7/16 studs...So I had to get 3/8 studs to make em work.....I kinda don't feel completely safe since they're skinnier now but I didn't have the time to get the new rockers since I need my car for work and d/d stuff, so I just swapped to the smaller studs.

Anybody else running 3/8 studs and rockers?

I got the smaller studs, engine not in car yet... you shouldn't have any problems with .498 of lift, spring pressures can't be that high.

yeah that sucks man

i have crane/ford 1.7 cobras on my gt40 frpp heads...heads were new and rockers were used but came with the heads from ebay :)

btw i use a proform billet aluminum tfi distributor and it was about half the cost of msd...dont roast me but it seems to be holding up alright

I'm not sure if your camera is up to it, but I would love to see some close-ups of the fracture surface.

I doubt anything revolutionary can be learned from it, but I am curious...
(I look at fatigue fracture surfaces at work every day)

Yeah no prob it might be a day or two till I get some up but I'll deff get some.....You can see how if you put it together the top and bottom of the fracture aren't completely touching anymore (just the middle obviously).....Once it started to open the valve and started to bend it finally snapped.

And I do plan an oil change very soon. Hoping it will help my one lifter that tapping....sometimes its loud sometimes its completely gone like on my way to work yesterday but on the way home it was there again
I noticed when I was setting the valve lash only ONE had pumped down all the way (very front one on driver side) and it's the same side my lifter tap is on so im figuring it's that one since all the rest were like rock solid when turning the rocker nut with my hand. And I replaced all the lifters less than a year ago.
