Hello All,
I am going to try and get this right. I have the SCT XCalII 93 Oct tune from Brenspeed Okay. I was running no muffles sounded awesome,But got tried of the of hearing all that sound. I installed the axle back Flows and it to me and it may just be me,But it just don't feel the same. Is it possible that I lost HP by putting the muffles on?

Thanks,

AHH

Awesome I'm not the only idiot to run without mufflers. Definantly WAY too loud for anyone with any "dignity." I just can't pull myself to put the flows back on too so I'
m not in your shoes yet. BUT mine seems that It hasn't lost any HP without mufflers, at least up top. Do you have a programmer? Maybe your comp will take a little time to relearn the backpressure.

You went from NO back pressure to now having back pressure, there is a huge difference here to relearn.

So with putting the flows on. Did I screw myself or will it learn and go to what I had? And how long will it take to learn the computer what I did.

Couple days

I think it would be no more than a couple days to learn. Id find a back road and make a few passes with it to help things along. After I took mine off I babied the car around for bout a week cause it was soo loud. But after that I got on it a few times and she seemed to learn to not use the back pressure. I figured it would be the same in reverse. Not throwing any codes right?

No she not throwing a codes. its just that before I could feel the spark being advanced and now its like I just I don't feel it,and it would being rolling at about 20 MPH and stomp it and it would churp the tires. Now it feels a little bogged down. No tire bark at all.

dyno

I think we could use a dyno on this one. Any third party (not selling mufflers) ever try a muffler vs no muffler dyno. I know all this talk about cars needing back pressure but I just don't know. Well hell I guess I should just go ahead and dyno again. Don't have the money after buying the louvers though.

Hey dream have you tried reflashing the performance tune onto your comp?

On a little bit of an aside I'm not sure I'm ever gonna put the flows back on. I might end up getting SLP loud mouths but LAWD knows that being this loud keeps me on the more legal side of driving. Plus no more street racing, simply reving the engine gets rid of any competition and gets a thumbs up.

Yes I reloaded the tune and I flashed it back to stock removed the batt. cable and waiting like a hour and reloaded the tune again. I wished the piss I would have ever put the muffles back on. Man she was running so good.

It may be a placebo affect. You are probably just not hearing as raucous of a sound and it may feel a bit slower. I can't imagine the Flows having all that much backpressure.

It is the sugar pill effect. Many magazines have tested that running no mufflers gives you no HP increase, only sound. Axles backs for the 05+'s are just for sound, that's it.

That's what I'm thinking. It sounds slower, so it must be slower. The S197 has a good flowing exhaust and it's been shown time and again that messing with just the axle back portion is going to net you very little HP changes.

Here I have one for you guys. I had slp L/M's on my "06" then put long tubes with an O/R H and resonators. This set up was LOUD! I am in the navy but work on an air force base. I was driving home (still on base) and not speeding this guy with a dog jumped out in front of my car, I slammed on the brakes and this guy walks up to the side of my car and starts accusing me of speeding and asking for my I.D. I was polite and talked to him trying to disarm the situation. Turns out It was the base commanding officer and he told my command I was driving out of control, long story short I put the factory mufflers on , it sounded like $#!% and I took about a week for the comp to train itself. My low end torque went way up but horsepower dropped. I then ordered the JBA cated H-pipe for L/T's put the slp's back on the noise or music (depending on how you like to refer to it) sounds grait. Low end torque is gone but I get complements all of the time on the exhaust note.

OK

With the mufflers on you should have more low end torque, with them off you should feel more up top. I would like to see you put it on a dyno with the exhaust on, then with it off.

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
