Before I take the mirror assembly apart (if it can come apart) has anyone been successful in eliminating the slight movement in the mirror that occurs while driving. I'm thinking it may be as simple as a loose mounting screw but I haven't tried to disassemble the mirror. I find that rapid vibration annoying. The passenger side mirror is rock solid. Is there fix besides shoving a shim between the mirror and the housing?

neither of my mirrors vibrate. do you get any movement of the mirror housing? If the mirror is tight to the door it might be worn out and in need of replacement. There is really nothing to snug up inside the mirror

my drivers side has one of the studs broken off and it vibrates like crazy. make sure all three bolts are tight first. the mirror can come apart but you have to take the glass off first which can be very hard and might break off the tabs making reinstall difficult.

No it's not the housing. If I apply slight pressure to the outer edge of the mirror it will move slightly. When driving it "flutters" a bit, not alot, but enough to be annoying. I'd guess it's wear in the rotational mechanism or as mentioned earlier perhaps a mounting screw or tab.

So if I read you correctly if the mirror glass isn't broken it isn't really fixable.

i'm not by any means an expert but i got one from a junkyard and tried taking it apart and it looked pretty serviceable once the mirror glass is out. i could take it all apart and there isn't really any wear items in there so i put it all back together and for the life of me i couldn't get the glass back on. or rather to stay on. maybe with a little more work i could have but after 15 min i gave up.

Sounds like I'll be better off if I just leave it alone and put up with the fluttering.
