thats the presure releif valve.. this is a last ditch effort to keep the A/C system from exploding under extreme high pressures.

the high side presure switch should have shut the A/C system down long before it got to the point that the mechanical presure releif kicked in.. This is not very common to have this problem.. One likely cause of this is a bad CCRM ( constant control relay module) it's located behind the right hand headlight in the fender well

bingo....hit the nail on the head..it is NOT common for cars to do this, and that is a common fix. as a matter of fact...just did one at my shop a few days ago. not saying it will fix your car, but it is a good chance.:SNSign:

so i just gotta get a new CCRM and change them out. do i have to like crack any lines open or is it pretty straight forward. also where can i get this at....the dealership or at like a pepboys, autozone type place. last about how much are they

My car has been hissing like that after I shut the car off since I got it back from my cam install.. It doesn't do it while the car is on, but after I shut it off and I get out.. I can't hear it in the car tho.. is that normal?

sounds like a dealership item.

and probably will have to recharge the system. IMO when dealing with A/C crap, its best to let pro's do it, you can get a second opinion from them and cross refrence it with what guys on here will say, and have it done professionally.

CRM is the most likely cause of this but by no means

Well it needs to be properly diaged first, also it needs to be refilled with freeon.

i went to my mechanic and hes going to look at it tomorrow. he said it could be like the cooler fan. and ideas on if this could be it. where is this cooler fan located at?

thats also a possibility.. but the high side switch should have turned the a/c system off before the presures got that high.

the cooler fan is the cooling fan... it's located right behind the radiator..

ok so that is just the main fan. wouldnt i over heat if that wasnt working. he said the fan that blew the air into the cab maybe i think. im probably making you sick of me mike with all my noob comments. i know engines but AC is a whole nother story

No your not making me sick at all.. A/C is not easy.. the fan that blows air into the cabin either works or it don't.. I would think that if you had that problem you would have also asked why the blower fan is inop..

I really would be leaning toward a CCRM on this one.. But without being there to test the car it's kind of hard to figure it out.. All I can do is tell you what I have found to go wrong on these systems based on what you tell me.
