saw you other post, the auto has no plug, if you want to change your fluid/filter, you have to remove the pan. Save the gasket, it's probably good to go back on. if not get one from a stealership and get your filter from them as well. You'll need ~13 quarts of Mercron V.

A. you wont need 13 qaurts if your simply taking off the pan, dropping the pan drained out for me probably barely 8 quarts. A lot of the fluid is in the TC which has it's own drain plug and up towards the output shaft which doesn't always wanna drain. The pan gasket is completely reusable.

B. don't put in Mercon V unless you've taken out all of you previous fluid, or if you were already running Mercon V.

Ford recently back spec'd Mercon V to all applications except for those that specify type F, SP, or FNR5 fluid.

yes, for good reason. I just dont promote mixing mineral fluid w/ synthetic ATF. If he's changing it all out at once, by all mean use MerconV

My drain pan is 10 quarts and it overflowed all over the garage floor. I didn't touch the tq and I put in almost 12 qts. your results may vary.
